BookBandit’s new website is about to launch, with free textbooks for one lucky student

BookBandit was born on mobile, but starting Aug. 15 you can shop for books from your laptop. The startup is running a contest to gin up interest.

The fall semester for colleges will be starting back up again soon, which means… textbooks. Around $600 of textbooks per semester. $600. That’s a lot of tacos.

In 2016, UD student Jim Jannuzzio realized there had to be a better, less inconvenient and less expensive way, and thus BookBandit was born.

Simply put, BookBandit matches students with reputable vendors offering the textbooks they need at the best price, allowing them to save upwards of 70 percent in textbook costs.

Currently, users can purchase books through the BookBandit app on iOS and Android. The website offers information about the service, but hasn’t directly offered the option to purchase books. That changes on Aug. 15, when the site has its full launch, purchase options included.

To celebrate, BookBandit is going to pay for one student’s textbooks for the semester.

How can you get it on it? Follow one of their social media accounts, such as their Facebook or Twitter, find the “Free Textbooks” post (see below), and follow the instructions. Then go ahead and buy your books through BookBandit — if selected, they’ll send you a check. The winner will be announced Aug. 31.
