The Delaware Office of Tourism and Delaware State Parks announced a new partnership with Geoswap during a press conference Tuesday.
“Delaware State Parks and the Delaware Office of Tourism are embracing the 21st century,” State Parks Director Ray Bivens said in a statement. “We are meeting people where they are – on their phones – and providing them easy to access information they can use to find fun.”
University of Delaware students Jason Bamford, Jordan Gonzalez and Keith Doggett created Geoswap, a mobile app that aims to help users stay connected by allowing them to download files based on their locations. It’s an effort to cure people of “FOMO,” or fear of missing out, by making sure they know about the things happening around them.
Accurate informationis  what makes Geoswap valuable, according to Bamford, who believes this new partnership will be beneficial to all parties.
“High-quality, reliable information is essential to making Geoswap worthwhile for to its users,” he said. “By partnering with Visit Delaware and State Parks, we can ensure that here in the state.”
The app will now include geopins branded with Visit Delaware and State Parks logos, making easier for tourists and residents to identify must-visit locations and events.
The Geoswap team has been busy lately. Last month, Geoswap won first place at Hen Hatch, the University of Delaware’s startup funding competition.
“The success of the Geoswap team illustrates again how Horn Entrepreneurship is a resource for students and the community,” Director of UD Horn Entrepreneurship Daniel Freeman said. “Students gain necessary knowledge and experience and local agencies, businesses, and organizations have another place to turn to for new talent and opportunities.”
