Frank DeSantis, a pillar of Delaware’s entrepreneurial community and a key point of support for local startups, has officially retired from his role as manager of the Emerging Enterprise Center (EEC), an initiative by the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce (NCCCC).

DeSantis did “a fantastic job building our program and helping numerous companies launch,” said NCCCC Executive VP Bob Chadwick over a recent email. That’s true, as DeSantis has a reputation for a passionate interest in the local business scene.

DeSantis helped Wilmington startup Carvertise get off the ground. Greg Star, the company’s cofounder, told us that DeSantis was a supporter and advisor from the start. “His passion for helping entrepreneurs and the local Delaware eco-system was apparent in every conversation,” Star wrote. “We felt Frank genuinely had our best interest at heart. The ECC was lucky to have him!”

“Frank’s retirement creates an opportunity for a new individual to take the helm at the EEC,” explained Chadwick. The Emerging Enterprise Center is looking for a manager with “a deep understanding of the entrepreneur community, a firm grasp on business fundamentals, the ability to recruit and counsel start-up companies; the inclination to partner and collaborate, and the gravitas to engage key stakeholders and funders.”

They’re hoping to have the position filled by June 1 at the latest. That’s when the EEC will relocate to a new venue at the Riverfront. Chadwick asked that anyone interested in the position should email him with a resume and letter of interest. His email is chadwickb@ncccc.com. Good luck to those who apply. You’ll have big shoes to fill.
