Next week at UD: Learn about the secret importance of viruses

UD's celebrating Darwin Day with several TED-style talks on evolution, including one on viruses from microbiology professor Eric Wommack.

February 12 marks the birth of Charles Darwin, and it also marks International Darwin Day. The University of Delaware’s getting in on the festivities that celebrate the achievements of the mind best known for his offerings on evolution by hosting a series of talks.
On February 13, the UD’s chapter of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Society, the Interdisciplinary Science Learning Learning Center and the Department of Anthropology will host keynote speaker Karen Strier, a professor of anthropology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Also on that day will be nine 18-minute TED-style talks given by UD faculty members. The talks all center around subjects like Darwin, evolution and biology, and their subject is fascinating. Eric Wommack’s talk on virus especially caught our eye.
On February 14, the group will host Jeremy Norman, a famous rare book collector and author. Norman will offer the closing keynote presentation.
