Theatre N will host San Francisco-based HackerRank cofounder and CEO Vivek Ravisankar tonight as he speaks about the history of his company and how coders can use the platform to find jobs. Ravisankar will also offer advice on starting your own company at the event, organized by coding school Zip Code Wilmington.
What’s HackerRank? It’s a platform where software coders can practice their work, compete with their peers and, eventually, find jobs. It’s also a platform for companies to see great talent at work to aid their recruiting processes. (HackerRank also hosted the online coding competition portion of last fall’s {OpenBracket.)
In an effort to make the recruiting process for software engineers a bit easier and faster, Ravisankar and fellow cofounder Hari Karunanidhi built what they dubbed CodeChallenges. The goal was to trim down the time they spent poring over resumes and conducting interviews by giving coders a way to demonstrate their abilities. It served to, as HackerRank offers on its official site, “not only cut thousands of hours in recruiting collectively but also helped flatten the world by promoting a meritocracy.”
You can learn more about HackerRank and Ravisankar tonight at Theatre N. The talk is slated to run from 5:30-6:45 p.m.. You can RSVP here if you like, but admission is entirely free and open.
