The First State has a lot to offer when it comes to funding great ideas, from {OpenBracket to the Diamond Challenge. Now it’s time for Hen Hatch competition applications. Organized by the University of Delaware’s Horn Program in Entrepreneurship, this contest has up to $100,000 in prize money up for grabs.

If you don’t have an idea yet, don’t rush it. The deadline is not until Jan. 16 of next year, so there’s plenty of time to refine your ideas.

In order to enter, you need to be affiliated with the University of Delaware as a student, faculty, staff or alumna. There are two tracks: one is for undergraduate students, the second is for everyone else.

Apply

Last year’s winners included JADE Biotech at first place, a company that created a solution called Chroma that helps dispose of liquid narcotics. It was created because Nemours saw a need for the solution. That’s why they won the $16,800 check.

The preliminary round of applications has begun and will be accepted throughout the year until Jan. 16. All you need to get started is a three-to-five page proposal. On Feb 13, contestants should expect to hear back about the semifinal rounds taking place March 10 and 17. The final round will take place on April 25.

Don’t forget to let us know what you’re working on (especially if it’s really cool).
