If you didn’t get the chance to attend the Barrel of Makers open house this past weekend, you are in luck. There are three cool tech-art events coming up next month and they’re all being hosted at 1313 Innovation in Wilmington.
All the materials are included in the event fee, so you don’t have to worry about bringing your own to the workshop. There are no prerequisites, you just have to be over 10 years old. They’re pretty affordable, too.

1. Intro to Arduino and Electronic Circuits
  • This event costs $14. The event will include a basic overview of Arduino, a programmable device for makers (kind of like Raspberry Pi). It has been used to create wearables and robotic fishMonday, Nov. 7 @ 6 p.m.
2. Learn to Solder
  • This event costs $18. Basic soldering skills will be covered in this session. A “decision maker” kit will be used, that will answer yes or no questions. The class will be taught by mechanical engineer Taras WallaceThursday, Nov. 17 @ 6 p.m.
3. Intro to 3D Design for 3D Printing
  • The price is $15 per person. Ever wonder about 3D design and how it actually works? Well, here’s your chance to learn all about it. This workshop will make you familiar with the 123D Design app. This class will also be taught by Taras Wallace, who uses 3D/CAD software pretty regularly. Monday, Nov. 28 @ 6 p.m.

Interested in sharing with us what you make at these workshops? Please do, we’d love to see them.
