As Wilmington’s Corporation Service Company builds out its new HQ in Greenville (it’ll be next to Capers and Lemons), the company is excited that the new office will be outfitted with technology for an improved working environment.
“We want to be cutting edge,” said Scott Malfitano, vice president of the global business, legal and financial services company.
Employees will have electric sit/stand desks, and lights will turn off when people walk out of rooms. But that’s not the cool stuff.
In an attempt to be wireless (literally), the floors will be raised and all of the wiring will be under the floorboards. That’ll allow for easy access and reconfiguration.

Then there will be “train car rooms,” which will look just like they sound. They’ll seat four, as in a train car, and will be soundproofed to serve as quick meeting spots. The rooms will also feature a solid wall where a monitor hangs so people can easily share info.

The new office space will also have designated webinar rooms, which will also be soundproofed. Sales employees will use them to talk with customers via webinar, and they’ll also use the space for recording webinars and other live presentations.

Rooms on the east, west and southern sides of the building will have Mecho-Shades on the windows, which will raise and lower themselves based on the clock and the sun’s movement.
He noted that CSC, which doubled in size over the past five years, is hiring more people in tech than ever before, and that the company has budgeted for 29 percent new IT hires this year. That’s a big jump from previous years, when IT accounted for 18 percent of new positions filled in 2014 and 15 percent in 2015. So far this year, Malfitano said, 14 percent of new hires have been in the tech field.
They’ve hired a couple of Zip Code Wilmington grads and are seeking a range of tech employees, from business analysts and software developers to security engineers and IT managers.
“We’re really focused on making sure we’re getting the right people on board,” he said, “as we depend on technology every single day.”
