The force is strong with Delaware Tech Meetup

The group is hosting a Star Wars-themed meetup before jetting off to the movies. Come dressed in your intergalactic finest.

Yoda would probably say, “Go or go not, there is no being lame and missing the Star Wars tech meetup just hours before The Force Awakens in theaters opens.” Or something like that.
Delaware Tech Meetup’s Star Wars-themed holiday party, The DE Tech Scene Awakens, will go from 6:00-8:30 p.m. on Dec. 17, which gives movie enthusiasts time to get to theaters before the Episode VII debut.
The meetup is a collaborative effort between a trifecta of Wilmington coworking spaces: Start It Up Delaware’s coIN Loft, 1313 Innovation and The Mill. It’s the first time Delaware Tech Meetup has held an event at the resident lounge of The Residences at Harlan Flats on the Riverfront. (Organizers are pumped that the location is directly across the street from Penn Cinema on the Riverfront.)

Attendees are encouraged to wear Star Wars costumes. So that’ll be fun.
The speakers:

  • Mona Parikh, community builder at The Archer Group and de facto community organizer for coIN Loft, on lessons the Delaware tech scene can learn from Star Wars.
  • Robert Herrera, cofounder of The Mill Space, on BPGS and its investment in Wilmington and the city’s tech community as it relates to coIN Loft and The Mill.
  • Megan Anthony and Ryan Harrington, of 1313 Innovation, on 2016 events for the coworking space.
  • Diane Wikso, of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Delaware, on a fundraising effort she’s asking the community to get involved with.

Wanna go? RSVP on the group’s Meetup page.
Quick note: Zach Phillips, also part of Wilmington’s innovation scene with his creative agency, The Kitchen, is hosting a Star Wars-themed event at the same time at the Wilmington train station. Instead of a meetup, it’s a fundraiser for Wilmington mayoral candidate Eugene Young. The event includes a viewing of Star Wars IV: A New Hope before the attendees walk to Penn Cinema.
