DC Fiscal Policy Institute (DCFPI) has appointed Erica Williams as its new executive director. She starts in the leadership role on April 6.

The NoMa-based policy nonprofit analyzes budget and tax issues in D.C., focusing on lower-income residents, including those in Wards 7 and 8.

“I share DCFPI’s commitment to centering Black and brown lived experiences in our efforts, and using fiscal and economic policy to achieve equity and justice for communities sidelined by racism and inequality,” Williams said in a statement. “I’m joining an incredibly passionate and talented team and look forward to the course we’ll chart together in pursuit of an economically, racially, and socially just city where truly everyone can thrive.”

Williams most recently worked as VP for state fiscal policy for D.C.’s Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, where she spent more than a decade in different roles.
