Advancing Women in Product (AWIP) recently launched its D.C. chapter and is planning to host an inaugural event on Nov. 11.

The three-year-old nonprofit is focused on helping women and underrepresented groups advance their careers in technology. With presence in other major tech hubs like San Francisco and New York, the newest District chapter is AWIP’s fifth national chapter it has launched since its inception. Nancy Wang, head of data protection services at Amazon Web Services, cofounded the nonprofit and now leads as its CEO.

On Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 3 p.m., AWIP is hosting a virtual event titled “Billion Dollar Industry: Building Technology for the U.S. Government,” where executive leaders from the intelligence industry will discuss approaches to building federal tech products, data management and more. The speakers are:

  • Jill Singer — VP of defense and national security, AT&T Public Sector and FirstNet
  • Russ Travers — Former acting director of National Counterterrorism Center
  • Brandee Daly — Founder and CEO of C2S Consulting Group

The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A. Tickets are $15 to attend.
