Refresh DC, a local community of designers, developers, media professionals and strategists, is hosting an event focused on “reimagining the hiring process.”
The community was founded to convene creatives and technologists to learn from one another. Refresh DC frequently hosts events, sends out a newsletter and interacts with the wider #dctech community via Twitter and Facebook.
This latest event sponsored by Mindspace welcomes recent hires, job seekers and hiring managers to share their experiences from both sides of the job search. Hiring managers will also share their personal tips and tricks to landing the next best hire.
-You’re in the process of looking for a job

Born in Pakistan and raised in Los Angeles, Shoaib studied at the California Institute of the Arts.
- Erica Jensen, recruiter at Viget — Jensen has four years of hiring experience, with three years of focusing on tech and design recruiting. At Viget, she is responsible for and enjoys creating an efficient, positive candidate experience.
- Raksa Yin, product designer at Deloitte Digital — Currently, Yin is creating digital experiences for the government sector. He received his bachelor’s in graphic design from the Corcoran School of Art and Design at George Washington University. He comes from humble beginnings as a son of immigrant refugees. He strives to use creativity to improve the world, one person at a time.
- Laura Carollo, product design lead at Upside Business Travel — Carolla’s work empowers business travelers through designing easy, user-centered experiences. With more than 15 years working in design, she thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys bringing strategy — and levity — to business challenges.
