Flex office space provider Hana is bringing its first East Coast location to Crystal City later this year, next door to Amazon’s first leased office space in the area.

Hana is a subsidiary of commercial real estate services and investment firm CBRE. Hana opened its first coworking space in Dallas last August with plans to open more locations soon, including two offices in London, another in Irvine, California, and one in Northern Virginia.

The company will lease 39,000 square feet of space from JBG Smith Properties at 2451 Crystal Drive. Amazon is currently leasing 47,512 square feet of space next door at 2345 Crystal Drive, where it’s housing more than 400 employees.

“Hana is thrilled to partner with JBG SMITH for our first East Coast location at National Landing surrounded by fantastic amenities available to Hana members and a dramatic transformation occurring within the neighborhood,” said Hana CEO Andrew Kupiec in a press release.

Hana offers flex offices for companies ranging from startups to large enterprises. JBG Smith’s 11-story building at 2451 Crystal Drive spans nearly 400,000 square feet and is part of a neighborhood that includes a childcare facility, fitness center, restaurants, bike storage and more. Hana’s new office will be located a few blocks from the Crystal City Metro Station and minutes from the Ronald Reagan National Airport.

“JBG Smith is pleased to welcome Hana to the East Coast and to the rapidly growing and diversifying National Landing neighborhood following Amazon’s HQ2 announcement,” said JBG Smith Executive VP David Ritchey in a statement. “Hana gives our existing and future office tenants the ability to scale their growth with significant flexibility, providing seamless life span support while expanding the range of offerings we provide, including pre-built suites, flexible space, and traditional longer-term office space.”

Each Hana location has three core components: Hana Team, Hana Meet and Hana Share. Hana Team represents the company’s private office suites in its locations, while Hana Meet provides conference and event spaces and Hana Share represents coworking space.

Hana’s Crystal City location is expected to open some time this year.

“We believe our unique flexible space solution, coupled with National Landing’s array of live, work and play offerings, will provide Hana clients a premier workspace to attract and retain top talent,” Kupiec said.
