Professional services network Deloitte just published its 25th annual  Technology Fast 500 list, with eight D.C. proper companies named. The ranking is a list of the 500 fastest-growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and energy tech companies in the U.S — both public and private sector.

Rankings are compiled from applications submitted directly to the Technology Fast 500 website and public company database research conducted by Deloitte LLP. For 2019, companies were selected based on percentage of fiscal-year revenue growth from 2015 to 2018 and represent more than 41 states and regions across North America, the company said.

New York-based UiPath, a leading robotics process automation (RPA) company, claimed the #1 spot on the listing, showing a growth rate of 37,458%. This company launched a partnership with D.C.-based tech inclusion nonprofit Byte Back earlier this year on a new course to promote a better pathway for more diversity in tech and offer underserved people the opportunity to land a job using RPA.

Overall, there were 35 companies, 30 of which are privately held, from the D.C., Maryland and Virginia region recognized on the list. This is two more than the companies included on last year’s list. Of the 35, 21 are appearing on the list for the first time, and 28 are software companies. D.C.’s Industry Dive was the only local winner in the digital content/media/entertainment category.

Two local software companies made it in the top 10: Bethesda, Maryland-based iLearningEngines came in fifth, and Vienna, Virginia-based Urgent.ly ranked sixth on the list.

Here are the eight D.C.-based tech companies that were included on the list, along with their industry, growth percentage and rank:

  • Radius Networks — Software, 1,915% growth, ranked #67
  • Mapbox — Software, 644% growth, ranked #173
  • Afiniti — Software, 561% growth, ranked #197
  • Morning Consult — Software, 470% growth, ranked #234
  • Industry Dive — Digital content/media/entertainment, 341% growth, ranked #304
  • Rise Companies Corporation — Software, 288% growth, ranked #344
  • Thycotic Software — Software, 266% growth, ranked #360
  • EVERFI — Software, 184% growth, ranked #469

Morning Consult, Industry Dive and EVERFI fell from their rankings last year, while Radius Networks improved from last year’s #71, and Thycotic Software moved up from its previous #436 rank.
