D.C.-based The Hatchery – AARP Inovation Labs is giving these five tech startups some extra support.

Through its Hatchery Ventures program, AARP selected five tech startups in the seed to Series A funding stages to help them grow and scale their ventures. This group of companies are a part of the inaugural cohort for the program and focus on digital health and social connections.

These companies were selected based on a criteria that includes having a product in market, having revenue less than $10 million and raising less than $10 million in equity-based funding.

The five startups selected for AARP’s Hatcher Ventures program are:

  • Bay Area-based enwoven, curator of a multi-media documentation tool
  • Los Angeles-based Musical Health Technologies, creator of a digital health platform that leverages music to help healthcare professionals manage challenging healthcare conditions
  • Boston-based Pillo Health, creator of a data-backed and customizable solution that uses a combination of adaptive AI and hardware for medication dispensation, caregiver connectivity and more
  • Somerville, Massachusetts-based Rendever, user of virtual reality and shared experience to curate a platform to reduce depression and loneliness by fostering personal connections
  • Boston-based XRHealth, creator of an XR (VR/AR) therapeutic platform combining medical applications with advanced data analytics

“These five startups fit with the mission of AARP and the goals of the Hatchery Ventures program to focus on solutions facing people 50-plus, including maintaining health and fostering social connections,” Nigel Smith, director of AARP Hatchery Ventures, said in a statement. “The disruptive innovations that these companies are focused on help people live healthier lives, better manage chronic health conditions, adjust behaviors for long-term resiliency, stay better connected, and live with greater purpose.”

During the program, these participating startups will get in-kind consulting services from AARP, present to investors and other business professionals at a demo day, and attend networking opportunities.
