The Washington, DC Economic Partnership (WDCEP), the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED) and Mayor Muriel Bowser are teaming up to bring this one-day conference to the District.

The inaugural WeDC Futures Forum set for Oct. 2 is a free programming and networking event for technologists, entrepreneurs, business owners and interested residents. The event will have four tracks related to the future of cities, technology, culture and a hot topic right now, cannabiz, and each track will include talks from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. A closing keynote event will feature Mayor Bowser and Angela Rye, principal and CEO at IMPACT Strategies.

WeDC Futures Forum will take place at Eaton DC. Pre-registration is required to attend.

DCFemTech Tour de Code

DCFemTech’s sixth annual Tour de Code is back, with a kickoff party to start the monthlong events series for those interested in advancing their technical skills. East of the River Book Festival

This sixth annual event was first organized by Courtney Davis, Ph.D. The East of the River Book Festival highlights the efforts of self-published authors, small publishers and independent bookstores. The event invites attendees to dress in costumes inspired by their favorite books and authors, and it also wants writers to participate in panels and workshops.

Improving the Patient Experience: a 1776 Pitch Competition powered by Ipsos

1776, the prominent D.C.-founded incubator and coworking network, is partnering with global marketing research company Ipsos to host a patient experience pitch competition. The competition selected startups working to improve the healthcare patient and provider experience to participate. The winning startup will be able to work directly with Ipsos’ healthcare partners to improve their healthcare tech, find new customers and even try some partnership opportunities.

DC CyberWeek 2019

DC CyberWeek returns for another year hosted by CyberScoop, a cybersecurity news outlet that’s part of the D.C.-based tech media company Scoop News Group. CyberScoop describes the week-long event series as a SXSW-style citywide festival attracting cybersecurity leaders for collaboration and to share best practices. Techstars Startup Weekend D.C., Space

Even though it’s not happening over a weekend, Techstars is bringing another 54-hour business-building event to the District, but this time it’ll be focused on entrepreneurs, designers and technologists creating businesses surrounding commercialized space and expanding the space economy.
