Lucas McCanna, former senior director of strategy at 1776, has left the prominent incubator to join D.C.-based CUCollaborate, a consulting, software development and digital marketing company with a mission to help credit unions grow. McCanna has been hired as the startup’s director of marketing.

“I am hoping to help grow the CUCollaborate brand as well as its customers. There are amazing startups in the D.C. ecosystem that are really changing the game. I believe this is one of them,” McCanna told Technical.ly. “The company has already been growing organically and I hope to further support that growth.”

McCanna was with 1776 for close to three and a half years, and after working with so many startups, he said he had the itch to join one himself.

“On a personal note, I want to focus on helping our customers grow their base by establishing relationships with low-income residents. Credit unions are a great financial institution that can support lower-income individuals and they are incentivized to do so,” McCanna said. “1776 was a great job for me to make valuable connections and learn about growing a startup. Now I am looking to put everything I learned into action.”
