DC Startup Week 2019 is inviting local startup entrepreneurs to apply for its premier pitch event.

Applications for the annual pitch competition opened on Aug. 14 for the main event set to conclude the weeklong event series on Friday, Sept. 13. Applications are due by midnight on Monday, Aug. 26, and selected finalist will have a chance to compete for cash and in-kind prizes. Pitch finalists will be notified on Aug. 30.

Applying startups may come from any sector and don’t need to be based in D.C. proper to be eligible.

Apply to pitch

Last year, six local startups were selected to compete at DC Startup Week 2018’s pitch competition and TwentyTables conquered the competition to take first place. The tech company curates an app that connects customers with cheap meal options and donates to surrounding charities in return.

With taking first place, TwentyTables was awarded with a $2,000 cash prize, $3,000 in Google Cloud credits, $1,000 in GSP consulting services, $1,000 in Metamer production video services, a $500 Silver Strategy PR consultation and an Amazon Echo. Knonap, a company that curates a one-of-a-kind discreet napkin that tests for the presence of date rape drugs in beverages, took second place and was awarded an additional $500 cash prize.

The pitch competition will be judged by an expert panel of judges.

DC Startup Week 2019 kicks off on Monday, Sept. 9. Learn more and register to attend here.
