WeWork is adding to its D.C. metro coworking spaces with a new location.
The company has signed a deal to lease three floors of space at Property Group Partners’ Capitol Crossing location at 200 Massachusetts Avenue, NW. WeWork will take up the seventh, eighth and ninth floor of the building, with plans to open the location by year-end, a press release states. The 111,000-square-foot space will be one of the company’s larger locations in the D.C. metro area.
“200 Massachusetts Avenue is a prime location to add to our growing portfolio in D.C.,” Lex Miller, general manager for WeWork’s Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions, said in a statement. “As our second largest building and with such close proximity to Capitol Hill, we have a strong vision for how we will continue to build our unique amenities and product offerings that are attracting members in government affairs, trade associations, and lobbying to WeWork.”
The company said it is adding a location to D.C. as a result of its growth and response to demand of shared office spaces. JLL is Property Group Partners’ leasing agent so in this transaction, JLL had representatives on both sides to work through negotiations.
The Capitol Crossing location will make 17 total WeWork locations in the District.
“WeWork’s move to Capitol Crossing is the next step in their growth trajectory here in DC,” Zach Boroson, SVP at JLL, said in a statement. “The investments that PGP have made here will allow WeWork to extend their robust amenity offerings beyond their three floors and give their members a place to attract top talent from adjoined neighborhoods to grow and thrive at 200 Massachusetts Avenue.”
