The board of directors from open data trade association The Data Coalition and sister organization The Data Foundation welcomed Nick Hart on Tuesday. Hart will be The Data Coalition’s new CEO and The Data Foundation’s interim president. He joins the team with 10 years of experience working in federal government and prior to these positions, Hart was the director of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Evidence Project, where he remains as a fellow.

“Ensuring policies are effectively designed to encourage responsible data use offers great benefits for the American people,” Hart said in a statement. “Through the combined efforts of our staff, members, supporters, and Boards of Directors, we will continue advocating to make government more transparent, effective, and efficient.”
Reston, Va.-based Public Interest Registry (PIR), the nonprofit operator of the .org domain, expanded its executive team by three. This announcement comes a few months after the organization named Jonathon Nevett, cofounder of Donuts Inc., as president and CEO in December.
Judy Song-Marshall joins the PIR team as its chief of staff, having more than a decade of domain name industry experience in the executive management space. Joe Abley joins as CTO, bringing 20 years of experience working with internet infrastructure and will be responsible for the organization’s overall tech strategy. Anand Vora comes on as PIR’s VP of business affairs. Vora has 10 years of experience working in the domain name and internet industries and has an expertise for strategy and business development.
Indiez, a D.C.-based startup that helps customers build a team of tech freelancers to help launch their companies, has welcomed Benjamin Ross as VP of business development. The company was founded in 2016 by Nitesh Agrawal, after he met various digital nomads while traveling. Before joining the team, Ross spent six years as the CEO Metamer Productions, a video content marketing agency.
Alexandria, Va.–based Territory Foods named former Amazon executive Abigail Coleman as its new CEO.

Coleman worked in food and ecommerce, previously holding positions at Kraft, Mondelez and a few other startups.
“I believe Territory is showing the way forward in personalized nutrition on a big scale.,” Coleman said in a Q&A with her new employer. “In 5 years, our community will be even greater in size, but we will continue to have the incredible, one-on-one relationship with each customer that allows us to create meals that are the perfect fit to their nutritional needs.”
Alexis Juneja has been hired as the SVP of people and impact at Arcadia Power. Before joining the team, she served as an advisor to Framebridge, Girls Night In and was on the executive leadership team at Vox Media, leading the people and culture team comprised of people operations, office operations, and corporate IT.
As SVP of people and impact at Arcadia Power, Juneja will lead a team focused on workplace, talent acquisition, and people operations.
Last month Bethesda, Md.–based Aledade announced multiple promotions to it’s leadership team:
- Cofounder Edwin Miller has been promoted from CTO to the chief product officer to focus the product team on data-driven innovation, faster development, and tech-enablement of Aledade’s population health initiatives.
- Brady Richards was named CTO to lead the development of Aledade’s tech platform.
- Emily Maxson, M.D,. was named the company’s first chief medical officer and will be responsible for overseeing and impacting Aledade’s clinical strategy and acting as the “voice of the physician” among the company’s executive team.
Aledade was launched in 2014 to help healthcare providers join forces to reduce Medicare costs. This announcement comes after the company recently launched two partnerships with Humana to bring bring more benefits to the plan’s Medicare Advantage members in Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, and with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina to expand value-based primary care throughout the state.
James Winnefeld, Jr., former U.S. Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Douglas Loverro, former U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for space policy, have joined Herndon, Va.–based Hawkey 360‘s advisory board. Both bring extensive experience working for the United States government in the aerospace and defense markets.
“HawkEye 360 provides the exact type of intense, high-speed innovation needed to help industry and security partners remain competitive in a highly dynamic world,” Winnefeld said in a statement. “I feel privileged to have joined this remarkable team as an adviser.”
Founded in 2015, HawkEye 360 is a Radio Frequency (RF) data analytics company.
D.C.–based remodelmate has hired its first-ever head of engineering, Nick Staples.
Staples joins the remodelmate team with more than 10 years of full-stack mobile and web app development experience, and seven years of computer security experience. He will lead remodelmate’s development team and oversee the company’s product.
“My interest in remodelmate piqued after seeing them win AfroTech last November,” Staples said in a statement. “I knew I had to join after meeting the team, hearing the vision, and being stunned by how much progress they’ve made in a short period of time. What they’ve been working on – customer and contractor dashboards, automated scheduling, secure online payments, and more – has the potential to make us an industry-defining company. I’m excited to help take the operation to the next level.”
D.C.–based Kit Check made multiple strategic additions to its leadership team to help foster growth and increase its recognition in hospitals:
- Amy Langan joins Kit as CMO.
- Doug Zurawski, Pharm.D., joins the team as SVP of clinical strategy.
- MaryAnn Jensen has been hired as VP of strategic marketing.
- Eric Bolling will take on the executive VP role.
Kit Check’s business focuses on pharmacy kits, a link between hospitals and pharmacies, Technical.ly DC previously reported. Kit Check strives to do away with that frustration of pharmacy technicians manually refilling prescriptions by automating the process with software. The company provides a scanning station and software to scan medication and record what is missing, expired or incorrect.-30-
