This week, Comcast Business announced a multi-million investment to expand its fiber-optic network in D.C.

The expansion has deployed additional miles of new fiber throughout Dupont Circle, Logan Circle and Franklin Square, spanning more than 300 buildings. That includes both aerial and underground ethernet extensions connecting businesses along Connecticut Ave., Massachusetts Ave., Rhode Island Ave., New Hampshire Ave., New York Ave., Vermont Ave. and Pennsylvania Ave., the company said in a press release.

Comcast Business specifically offers organizations of any size ethernet, internet, wifi, voice, TV and managed enterprise solutions that are delivered over an advanced network and available in 20 of the U.S.’s top 25 markets, including the District. This announcement comes after the communication giant expanded its fiber-based network in Baltimore in August, Technical.ly Baltimore previously reported. Comcast says its fiber-based network has capacity to reach speeds of up to 100 Gigabits-per-second. The exact investment value was not disclosed in the release.

“As demand for our high-performance Ethernet offerings continues to soar, we’re proud to bring our advanced network deeper into Washington, DC,” Juan Dominguez, the vice president of Comcast Business for the company’s Beltway region said in a statement. “We’ve invested heavily in building an infrastructure that meets the high-speed, high-capacity needs of business customers in the District, and we look forward to continuing to launch new and innovative services that exceed their expectations well into the future.”
