A D.C.–based startup focusing on video creators is adding a notable name from Hollywood.

ICX Media said Thursday that actor-writer-filmmaker Edward Burns is joining its Board of Advisors. Aaron Lubin, who is a producing partner with Burns, is also joining the board.

As we’ve reported, ICX Media makes tools to help video creators analyze data on the reach of their content and work across platforms. One of those categories of creators identified by the company is independent filmmakers.

That’s where Burns and Lubin can help. ICX Media CEO Michael Avon said, “Their unique and invaluable insights will help us tailor our product to further meet the needs of millions of content creators.”

“The organization’s breakthrough technology that promotes data-inspired storytelling to fuel creativity is just what independent filmmakers need to make informed decisions about their creative ventures,” Burns said in a statement. “We are looking forward to collaborating with Mike and his team to help content creators realize their potential and grow their audience.”

Burns, who came to fame helming films such as The Brothers McMullen and She’s the One, is getting set to launch his 12th film in the writer-actor-director role with Summertime. It premieres later this month at the Tribeca Film Festival. Lubin has produced multiple Burns projects. Together, they also produced Purple Violets, which made a splash by debuting on iTunes.

For its part, ICX Media is in “growth mode” this year following a $6.6 million Series A, Avon has said.  The company is opening an L.A. office, and the addition of Burns and Lubin toward follows the hiring of Scott Bowen as COO, and the announcement that former Time, Inc. CEO Laura Lang would join its board of directors.

ICX Media also made a hiring announcement this week, naming Danielle Taricco as Head of Marketing. Formerly with AOL and Custom Ink, Taricco worked as a consultant with the company in 2017 before joining the company full-time.

“Her background and skillset are a perfect fit for ICX Media as we ramp up our enterprise sales efforts to brands, agencies and media and entertainment companies as well as our creator acquisition efforts in 2018 and beyond,” wrote Avon, who added that the company expects “additional sales and marketing hires over the course of 2018 as we scale up our go-to-market team.”
