Georgetown University is looking to give student entrepreneurs access to off-campus coworking space.

The university announced plans this week for the Georgetown Venture Lab, located within WeWork White House. It’s funded by a $1.5 million donation from Monumental Sports and Entertainment founder Ted Leonsis and his family.

“The Georgetown Venture Lab will offer valuable support for aspiring entrepreneurs, while at the same time further strengthening Georgetown’s alumni network and Georgetown’s connections to the local business community,” Leonsis, a Georgetown alum who also backs the Leonsis Family Entrepreneurship Prize at the university, said in a statement. “We would like to see these companies led by Georgetown alumni grow and become leading contributors to the local economy.”

Run by the McDonough School of Business’ Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative, the space will have 90 desks available to student and alumni entrepreneurs. Membership rates will be subsidized. There will also be a community manager working directly with the Georgetown section, and programming is in the works.

According to the university, the concept for the space was introduced by Arthur Minson, WeWork’s President and also a Georgetown alum. Minson also played a key role in setting up the partnership.

WeWork White House is also the D.C. home of Flatiron School, the coding academy now owned by the coworking giant.
