The Flatiron School’s DC location will be at WeWork White House

Classes begin in March. The expansion comes after WeWork bought the coding academy last year.

Amid WeWork’s buying spree last year, the coworking company made moves into the coding bootcamp space with the acquisition of the New York–based Flatiron School.

It came with talk of expansion, and D.C. quickly emerged as an initial new city for the combined companies. But there were still details to iron out, such as which of WeWork’s 10 D.C. locations would house the coding school.

“Washington, D.C., has become one of the fastest growing hubs for tech innovation in recent years, making it the perfect fit as we continue to expand our on-campus offerings,” Flatiron School CEO Adam Enbar said in a statement. “Flatiron School is excited to see where our growth takes us as we continue to empower students with the skills they need to build fulfilling careers.”

The Flatiron School’s D.C. location will be at WeWork White House. The coding academy taking two classrooms and a large common area at the G St. coworking space.

Classes are scheduled to begin March 12, 2018. The space will offer a 15-week software engineering course. Night and weekend classes will also be offered.

But the first look will come Feb. 1, when the Flatiron School has a launch party with Enbar in the house. The program will also feature Byte Back Executive Director Elizabeth Lindsey, Hatch cofounder Amelia Friedman and WeWork Community Director Kley Sippel. RSVP here.

Despite last year’s demise of The Iron Yard, the move shows that the coding bootcamp space remains active in D.C. The news comes on the same week as Thinkful raised new funding to expand in D.C. Programs including General Assembly and Coding Dojo are also making moves in the area.
