The 2017 Timmy Awards took place last week, at 1776 Crystal City. The awards recognize leaders in DC Tech for creating some of the best places for tech professionals to work. The event, organized through the local Meetup chapter of Tech in Motion, allows the public to submit their nominations for the four possible awards. There were over 150 nominations, 30 finalists, and over 11,000 votes for the nominees.

The event added “Best Tech Workplace for Diversity” as new category this year.

“Diversity is not only a trending topic in tech but across all industries,” said Mandy Walker, Director of Marketing at Motion Recruitment Partners. “Adding the Workplace for Diversity award recognizes and celebrates the companies who know that diversity isn’t just a trending term or requirement but a key ingredient to the creativity and success of a company.”

“D.C.’s tech ecosystem is one of the most vibrant in the world. It is well-established, ever-growing and rapidly making it well-known that it is a force to be reckoned with,” said event organizer Del Crockett, VP of Jobspring Partners and Workbridge Associates DC  “There’s a lot of camaraderie in the region, so while the competition was fierce, the finalists were all smiles. I think we’re incredibly lucky to be able to celebrate and honor these types of tech professionals, both this year and for the foreseeable future.”

The Timmy Awards also featured demos from local startups, BizyKeshif, and Hatch. The complete list of winners and nominees in the four award categories can be found on the event Meetup page.
