Just ask Alexa, and a Washington Post reporter will provide the highlights of the morning politics news.

Earlier this week, the Post made The Daily 202 available on Amazon Alexa-enabled devices.

Once the skill is enabled, users can ask said device about the news. The commands are “Alexa, what’s my flash briefing?” or, more generally, “Alexa, what’s in the news?”

Then, Daily 202 author James Hohmann will read a roundup of the news, called the Big Idea. It’s available on weekday mornings.

“We’re excited to extend our signature political coverage to even more people who want to start their day with informative and conversational news using Alexa,” Jessica Stahl, executive producer for audio at The Post, said in a statement. “As a growing number of new users are engaging with The Post using audio, we’ll build on what we’ve learned from our first politics flash briefing and continue to focus on creating the best storytelling experiences.”

We’re seeing signs of a push to add skills and learn more about using Alexa among the dev community. The news case is a sign that it’s being used inside larger institutions that are embracing tech (albeit one owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in this case).
