When it comes to startup ecosystem recognition, D.C. is certainly a steady “most innovative” list darling.
Case in point — a new study from WalletHub names D.C. to the top of its list of most innovative states. (Take that, states!) Maryland takes the No. 2 spot.
How do they figure? According the the methodology of the study, “WalletHub’s analysts compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across two key dimensions, namely ‘Human Capital’ and ‘Innovation Environment.'” These two dimensions are measured using 18 different metrics, including “share of STEM professionals,” “projected STEM job demand by 2020,” “entrepreneurial activity,” “drone friendly laws” and more. The WalletHub comes weeks after D.C. topped a KPMG study as a top tech innovation hub.
