Learn to talk tech with Women Who Code

What is Ruby on Rails anyway?

Getting into tech is hard, not least because of the terminology involved. Back in the day, this reporter was surprised to learn that Ruby on Rails is the name of a programming language, not a fancy cocktail.

So if learning to code is part of your 2017┬áresolutions but you’re intimidated by the language, we see you. Good news — Women Who Code DC is here to help.

In an event titled The Language of Languages, to be held on Jan. 19, the group “will introduce you to many common terms that might otherwise look like alphabet soup when you first start out.” The event will be held in the evening, at the Living Social offices near the White House.

Organizers say the event is perfect for both beginners trying to decide where to start and experienced programmers looking to understand more languages. More info (and RSVP) below, and if you are a lady reading this and you really are looking to learn to code, it might be worth revisiting this article on local groups that are here to help!
