Reston-based CargoSense is ensuring your frozen turkey gets a cushy ride to your dinner plate.
The company has designed a “black box” that tracks how pharmaceuticals and refrigerated products are treated during shipment.
The platform captures data like temperature, light and humidity, put also pressure and even how the object is tilted during the trip.
“This marks the first true actualization of the Internet of Things (IoT) within the logistics industry,” said CargoSense CEO Rich Kilmer in a press release Thursday.
CargoSense just raised a $2.5 million seed round led by Chicago-based IrishAngels and Northern Virginia-based Middleburg Capital Development. The state-backed Center for Innovative Technology, a repeat investor, also participated.
