Secure texting startup ArmorText just raised $1.9 million [Startup Roundup]

WHO’S GETTING FUNDED?

McLean, Va.-based ArmorText, which secures text messages in the cloud, raised $1.9 million out of a $3.5 million offering, according to an SEC filing. It brought Neeraj Gupta, an executive at the Mountain View, Calif.-based Appcelerator, onto its board of directors.
Reston, Va.-based small business loan platform StreetShares (“Shark Tank meets eBay”) raised $375,000, according to an SEC filing.
RevSite.com, a mobile-enabled website design company based in Arlington, raised $1 million, according to an SEC filing.
Message Systems, an email software company headquartered in San Francisco and Columbia, Md., raised $27 million in debt and equity, according to a press release. CEO Phillip Merrick told Technical.ly DC in an email that the investment “will be used to further expand and develop our Sparkpost cloud email offering, which has already received a strong reception in the market. We continue to hire across all our U.S. locations, including Columbia, Seattle and San Francisco, and the staff growth will be fairly even across these locations.”
loop88, an Arlington-based marketing platform for Pinterest, raised $200,000 from a prospective $1 million round, according to an SEC filing.
