It was formed in fall 2019 by a merger of the Wilmington Renaissance Corporation, the downtown revitalization organization that has been spearheading development projects since 1993, and the Wilmington Leaders Alliance, which has focused on workforce and leadership development since 2017. WRC’s executive director, Renata Kowalczyk, was named CEO at the time of the merger.
