Alex Hillman is having no trouble selling his mentorship elsewhere, but for some reason, he says, the Philadelphia interest hasn’t followed.
Hillman, the tattooed co-founder of coworking shop Indy Hall, is “literally making it my business to help people learn how to build kick-ass communities.” To do that, Hillman is leading an online ‘masterclass’ on building community, taking lessons from building one of the world’s more celebrated coworking spaces and his various speaking and consulting gigs on the subject and doling them out with others once a week during the month of October.
It’s something he says he hopes to grow — as he wrote here.
To jump start the local interest, Hillman is offering a 25% discount to those in Philadelphia — a big savings, he says, when the month-long class costs $950 at an early-bird rate (until tomorrow). Tweet @alexknowshtml for discount.

“The first iteration of the online course on community development is currently in session with people attending from all over the world, attending from as far as Australia, from economic development projects in two cities including Detroit, from business and executive centers, incubators, and, of course, coworking spaces of many flavors and at various stages of growth, from brand new and not open yet to a few years old,” Hillman wrote Technically Philly. “But what about my own hometown? Zero.”
(Philly Startup Leaders President Bob Moul was spotted joining the class)
