There’s no such thing as a dumb question when it comes to voting, and thanks to technology (even if it was kind of a stupid question), you don’t have to ask it out loud and can just check nytechvotes.org.
The site has all the info you need, such as where your polling place is, whether or not you’re registered to vote and even the language of the legal statute (NYSEL 3-110) that says employers are mandated to give you time to go vote if you don’t have time outside your working hours.
The site is a joint effort by the New York Tech Alliance and Brooklyn’s TurboVote. TurboVote is a project by the Brooklyn and Denver-based group Democracy Works, which describes itself as a group of devs, public policy folks and organizers who are “Building the tools needed to upgrade the infrastructure of our democracy and improve the voting experience for voters and election officials alike. Our vision is straightforward: make voting a simple, seamless experience for all Americans so that no one misses an election.”
The site also has a beautifully-designed poster you can print out and post in your office, letting people know about their right to leave the job to vote real quick and come back.
