Here’s where to watch real-time election results tonight, thanks to Code for Philly

Along with city employees, civic hackers at Code for Philly built a real-time election results tool in the spring. Now it’s an official city web app on the City Commissioner’s site.

Civic hackers Tim Wisniewski (who’s also the city’s Chief Data Officer), Lauren Ancona, Kevin Clough and Mjumbe Poe worked on the project. It’s a testament to the power that civic hackers can wield with city government.
Here’s Code for Philly executive director Dawn McDougall on why it’s a big deal that the city adopted this civic hacking project:

We know that civic hacking is a great experience that can make our residents more involved and engaged. We know project ideas and apps that come out of the Code for Philly community can change how things work to make Philly better. The City knows that too. It shows when they’re aware of our work and (even better) departments want to adopt it.
