Philly cops in early planning stages of wearable-camera pilot

Some Philly cops could be wearing body cameras by the end of the year.

The Philadelphia Police Department is in the early stages of planning a pilot program for the technology, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported. SEPTA announced earlier this summer that three of its police officers would wear cameras to increase accountability for both the public and police.

Police union president John McNesby said he was against wearable cameras because “it would just give another avenue for them to second-guess police.”
