The Philadelphia Parking Authority is in the early stages of planning for a mobile payment system, according to an RFI (Request for Information) published on its website.
The agency is looking for potential vendors to see what’s available. Responses are due by August 15, according to PPA spokesman Martin O’Rourke.
A “Pay-by-Cell Payment Solution” would save the authority money, according to the PPA RFI.

Camden uses a mobile payment system for parking, according to the city’s website, as does the Philadelphia parking lot operator Parkway Corporation. The PPA told NewsWorks in late 2012 it was considering “some type of mobile payment system for on-street parking.”
