OkWork!Philly, Bike Generator Demonstrator, It’s My Life: State of Young Philly challenge winners awarded $1k grants

Meet the winners below.

During its annual State of Young Philly conference, Young Involved Philadelphia (YIP) put out the call: Give us your best ideas to tackle Philly’s issues and we’ll give you $1,000.

Meet the winners below.

As described by YIP:

  • Education Track: It’s My Life  (encourages students at area high schools to use live theater to safely practice situations related to sexual health)
  • Economy Track: OKWork!Philly (creates a central place for Philadelphians to view and apply to job postings and see who in their social networks has connections to employers.
  • Sustainability Track: Bike Generator Demonstrator (powers light bulbs and small electronic appliances using a bicycle with the goal of increasing interest in energy efficiency)

We’ll check back in with the winners in the new year. Read more about them on Newsworks.
