If you’re like me, you forget all about downtown Wilmington’s free parking incentive every year and wind up obliviously dropping coins in the meter anyway. This year, since the city adopted the Parkmobile app, you literally can’t obliviously pay for free parking.
On weekdays, the app won’t let you pay for parking after noon. This might be confusing at first, because if you’re parking at 11 a.m., the max time is only one hour instead of the regular two. Which is why it helps to know the parking policy:

So, it doesn’t matter if you forget. (The same thing happens at 6 p.m. Monday–Saturday during regular parking hours.) Just remember why the app won’t let you start a session after noon.
The downside? You can’t feed the app after the max time limit — two hours means two hours.
