The government has been coming up with new ways for travelers to skip the line at BWI before getting on a plane, even employing iris scanners. Now the Baltimore airport has a new tool to skip lines when arriving from another country.
BWI travelers can now use a mobile app to complete a declarations form when going through customs. Mobile Passport Control is free to use and doesn’t require pre-approval, according to U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.

The app allows travelers to input info about their passport. When arriving, they can fill out customs declaration information, and receive an encrypted QR code.
“Being able to increase efficiencies through technology while enhancing our security posture is a win-win for all involved,” said Customs and Border Patrol’s Dianna Bowman.
BWI is the 18th airport to implement the app. It comes as the airport has introduced new international travel options to Europe (via Iceland) and the French Caribbean.
