Under Armour has been revealing some of its plans for Port Covington to the city’s architecture panel over the last month.
A makerspace, distillery and redevelopment of 266 acres of mostly unused industrial area are all under the name of Sagamore, which is Kevin Plank’s development arm. But the company itself is also planning a huge expansion of its campus under the UA shield itself.
The first extended look at the new headquarters came at a Urban Design & Architecture Review Panel meeting last week, which followed a call where the company announced $3.96 billion in revenue for 2015, which is 28 percent growth.
SouthBmore.com filed a story on the meeting, and you can see the full presentation here (PDF).
The 4 million-square-foot campus is being designed by Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, which also designed Apple’s 5th Avenue store in New York, as well as campuses for Pixar and Square.
According to SouthBmore.com, the campus will be constructed in four stages over 15-20 years, with three million square feet of office space. The company is planning for growth to about 10,000 employees. The company is planning three towers, with the first being constructed in the next 4-5 years.
The company’s IT and finance teams are already reporting to work in Port Covington. A former Sam’s Club is now Building 37, named after Plank’s number in college.

Among the other amenities on the campus itself is a new stadium and field house, and lots of walkable space. There is also room for 5,000 parking spaces. That’s fewer than the 10,000 employees on purpose, as UA is also planning transportation options like water taxi, light rail and bus stops.
“Under Armour will be the pioneering model of the new urban campus,” Bohlin Cywinski Jackson Principal and Chief Architect Frank Grauman said in a press release. “We are developing a destination and landmark for which Baltimore will be recognized and admired around the world.”
