As the future quickly descends upon us, Fairfax County, Va., for one, could hardly be more excited. The county, home to some of the “intelligent roads” where researchers are testing self-driving car technology, is intent on learning how this tech can impact Fairfax. Forget Silicon Valley — Virginia, an email informed us, wants to be the “capital for automated vehicles.”
In pursuit of this, Fairfax and Virginia Tech are bringing together experts on self-driving cars and other transportation interest groups for a discussion on autonomous vehicles. The event, scheduled for May 3, will include vehicle demos as well as a panel discussion including panelists like the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute’s Reg Viray and eTrans Systems’ John Estrada. It’ll all take place at the Fairfax County Government Center.
Visit the event page above for more information on the afternoon-long peek into the future. We’re just sorry we can’t get an autonomous vehicle to drive us there now…
