Election Day doesn’t get bigger than this, between the COVID-19 pandemic, social unrest, a recession and an openly nationalist incumbent. And it really doesn’t get any bigger for Delaware, home of Democratic candidate for President Joe Biden, who could potentially become the first Delawarean American president.
As such, Delaware has played a big role in Biden’s candidacy, all the way up to Election Day, when he, along with Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris, will deliver a speech outside of the Chase Center on the Riverfront in Wilmington in the evening. Expect lots of security and blocked roadways in the evening, especially around the Riverfront.
How are things going in Delaware? The lines at most polling places are long — no surprise, as Delaware offered no early voting, just mail-in voting — and the mood is generally pretty good. Aubrey Plaza even shared an old “awkward high school photo” of herself with Biden:

Here’s how the early part of the day looked:
Biden started his day at St. Joseph’s Brandywine Church in Wilmington, before making one last campaign swing in Pennsylvania.

After voting is done, attention will turn to the Chase Center, where regional, national and international press has been watching the setup of the outdoor stage since the weekend:
