The official launch of the Downtown Farmer’s Market at Rodney Square is May 16. But the market, which hits every Wednesday from 11 to 2, really kicked off May 2, when vendors, food trucks and people filled the park on the first summery day of the year.
Bright Spot Urban Farm and Sorbello Girls Farm Market are also back, with fresh produce and plants, as well as artisans including NokukaiTribe and Rocker Soaps.
Most surreal: With no more Rodney Square DART hub, the North King Street side of the park is lined with food trucks, not buses.
Mayor Mike Purzycki and Downtown Visions Executive Director Martin Hageman will be there for the official Grand Opening of the Downtown Farmer’s Market’s 16th season, sponsored by Colonial Parking and JPMorgan Chase.
The Downtown Farmer’s Market is part of Downtown Visions’ Summer in the Square, which features daily lunchtime events in Rodney Square Park, including a live concert series (you can see who’s playing by visiting @DowntownWilmDE on Twitter).
The “Rodney Square Cafe” will serve lunch on Tuesdays (Farmer’s Famous Fish), Thursdays (Hummingbird Island Cuisine) and Fridays (KOI on the Go).
