The city's Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy is heading the public-private partnership, but the data isn't only arts-related. Get demographics of the city's neighborhoods. Map all the city's artist coworking spaces. See who's taking advantage of tax incentives like the state's Keystone Opportunity Zones.

A map of the city's Keystone Opportunity Zones created using CultureBlocks.

It’s loads of local community-focused data come to life in the city’s new mapping tool, CultureBlocks.

Launched yesterday, CultureBlocks is a way for people and organizations to get data about different parts of the city in order to make more informed decisions about local initiatives.

CultureBlocks maps more than 50 data sets, including data from the city, state and federal level. There is no API available, though you can download some of the raw data from the site itself. The data will be updated annually, said the city’s deputy cultural officer Moira Baylson.

Center City firm Smyrski Creative designed the website and logo, while The Reinvestment Fund’s Policy Map designed and built the tool. Penn’s Social Impact of the Arts Project also worked with the city on the project. The work was backed by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and ArtPlace.

Updated 5/1/13 11:30 a.m: Smyrski Creative designed the CultureBlocks website, not the tool, as this story previously reported.
