Brooklyn tech leaders joined those around the nation yesterday in voicing protest over the Trump administration’s recent executive order banning incoming travelers from seven majority-Muslim countries.
An open letter written by Manhattan tech booster organization Tech:NYC addressed to President Donald Trump has been signed by hundreds of the city’s CEOs, investors and founders.
“Among the reasons we proudly build and grow companies here in New York City is the rich diversity the city and its residents provide,” the letter states. “We write out of concern that your recent executive orders will undermine that and send a dangerous message to all immigrants that they are not welcome here.”
The letter goes on to discuss the importance of immigrants to the American tech sector, noting that some of the most innovative companies and largest employers have been founded by immigrants, including: LinkedIn, Tesla Motors, Google, Intel, Yahoo, eBay and WhatsApp, among others.
