The future of Baltimore will be a prime topic at an event being organized by The Atlantic, Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Aspen Institute next week.
CityLab Baltimore will feature a mix of local and national leaders discussing key issues facing cities, and lessons for addressing them. Some examples offered in a press release including reduce blight, addressing heroin addiction and the role of cultural investment.
The “pop-up summit” is set to be held Wed., Aug. 2, at Parkway Theatre on North Ave. from 2-5 p.m.
From Baltimore, speakers included Beth Blauer of the data-driven Johns Hopkins Center for Government Excellence, MICA President Samuel Hoi, City Health Commissioner Leana Wen, Elissa Blount Moorhead of TNEG Film Studios and Salon Editor-at-Large/University of Baltimore Professor D. Watkins.
Detroit Planning Director Maurice Cox and New Orleans Deputy Mayor Judy Reese Morse are among the national speakers. Michael Bloomberg is set to give opening remarks.
