Chad Kenney, appointed director of Baltimore city’s CitiStat agency in August 2012, resigned from his position Friday after refusing to take a different job inside city government.
The Baltimore Sun reports that Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake wanted to transfer Kenney to a different position, which he declined.
According to the Baltimore Brew, “Kenney had pledged more detailed analysis of agencies by CitiStat and more posting of online data about how departments were performing their jobs.”
When Kenney was appointed, reporting by the Baltimore Sun indicated that CitiStat had failed to post online reports for two years. Established in 2000 under then-mayor Martin O’Malley, CitiStat operates as an internal management tracking agency for Baltimore city government by keeping tabs on the performance other city agencies including the fire department, police department and the department of transportation.
