Nonprofits throughout the mid-Atlantic recently received some support from a prominent Delaware-based healthcare provider to tackle the structural determinants of health outcomes.
The ChristianaCare Community Investment Fund announced the 19 community nonprofits from Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania receiving a total of $1 million this cycle as part of its mission to “support partnerships to build the collective capacity of communities to address social, behavioral and environmental factors that impact health.”
“In order to improve health equity and accelerate progress in addressing the social drivers of health, we need partners,” said Bettina Tweardy Riveros, ChristianaCare’s chief public affairs and health equity officer, in a press release. “While ChristianaCare provides excellent health care, we also understand that we are not the experts on every social driver of health. And that’s why we are committed to strengthening these organizations and enhancing their ability to make a positive impact. Together, we are creating health in the neighborhoods and communities we serve.”
The fund was established in 2019 and has invested more than $4 million in 52 local organizations.
