Baltimore Innovation Week: introducing first ever region-wide celebration of technology, Sept. 20-30, 2012

Bring together the many, strong, existing corners of the Baltimore technology and creative communities for a dense collection of events one week, and let’s make as much noise as possible. Everyone. Together.
That’s the goal of the first ever Baltimore Innovation Week, an open calendar of events that Technically Baltimore will help organize Sept. 20-29, 2012.

Consider this an invitation to meetup groups, communities, associations, organizations and businesses to get involved. Get together, host an event, launch a product or otherwise celebrate Baltimore for all its innovation. This will start in the technology community but it shouldn’t end there: science, arts, education, development and every other corner of this region that is changing how we should be seen.
Though we expect many, many more partners to come, here are some anchor events already on board:

• Startup Weekend will be hosted Fri. Sept. 28-Sept. 30 by Betamore.
• Tech Breakfast, the popular local tech demo meetup will be held Wed. Sept. 26 by Ron Schmelzer.
• The Social Enterprise Mid-Atlantic Summit will be held Monday Sept. 24 at the University of Baltimore by the Maryland Chapter of the Social Enterprise Alliance, as co-organized by Scott Burkholder.
• Education Ignite will be held Thurs. Sept. 20 by City Neighbors Foundation
• Pitch Across Maryland will highlight entrepreneurial activity in the state in a weeks-long effort landing in Federal Hill and organized by Startup Maryland.
• DiversiTech will have a special hosting of its regular every-other month meetup celebrating a more diverse technology community.
• Crowdstitch will host an invite-only event to demo and test its event-related mobile app, adds founder Mark Howells.
• Baltimore Javascript Users Group will host a special event bringing together their development community.
• TEDCO has pledged their interest in celebrating the community, thanks to Christine Johnson.
• Greater Baltimore Tech Council will be doing something awesome, thanks to Sharon Paley and Andrew Hazlett.
• The Digital Harbor Foundation shared excitement for getting involved, thanks to Andrew Coy.
• Technically Baltimore will host a kickoff event, unveil another, bring in new partners, hope to welcome new media attention, try to keep the madness organized and serve as overall point person.
• SparkTruck, the very cool educational fabrication mobile center from a Stanford student group, will be landing its #SparkTour in Baltimore, featuring a stop at Betascape (thanks to outreach from Mike Brenner).
• Venture for America — the new national nonprofit heading to Baltimore that places college graduates in two-year commitments with startup companies, will be putting together a panel featuring local startup founders.
