City working on plans to transform Broadway Junction

A group of legislators including Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and City Councilman Rafael Espinal wants to revamp the Broadway Junction, the transit hub that sits at the intersection of Bushwick, Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brownsville and East New York.

According to a story in Monday’s New York Times, city officials want to make the junction a “destination stop with nearby restaurants, stores, gyms and other commuter-friendly amenities. Their aim is to turn the tired station and the surrounding area into a bustling economic center for a swath of Brooklyn that has long struggled with unemployment, poverty and crime.”

Broadway Junction is the third busiest stop in Brooklyn. According to a map from earlier this year, real estate prices have already increased more than 16 percent in the last year.
